Plastic Surgeon Dr. Deutsch Meets with More Patients Suffering Back and Neck Pain Caused by Large Breasts and Performs More Breast Reductions As A Result

Dr. Mark Deutsch, MD, FACS, board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon, has recently seen more patients complaining of back pain, aches and pains, and even headaches caused by large breasts. The condition affects nearly one million American women, and more women are seeking breast reduction cosmetic surgery in order to alleviate painful symptoms. Dr. Deutsch is performing more breast reduction surgeries as a result of the influx of patient visits.

The weight of larger breasts can cause severe pain without enough support from surrounding muscles. The weight can cause elevated tension and strain on back and neck muscles as the body compensates for the weight and abnormal position. Larger breasts and the pain associated make it difficult to maintain good posture and can even lead to spinal deformities. While typical complaints associated with larger breasts involve back and neck pain, aches, pains and even headaches, confidence can be adversely affected as well. Many women struggle to find appropriately fitted bras and undergarments since most department stores fashion jackets online don't carry specialty or larger sizes. Ill-fitting undergarments can compound the problems and the pain a woman experiences.

"I've noticed a real increase in women coming to see me complaining of back pain," says Dr. Deutsch. "Some don't initially realize the weight of their breasts is causing all of their discomfort. A breast reduction definitely makes my patients feel more comfortable in their own skin and their clothing. It improves their self-esteem, too."

Dr. Deutsch is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery in general, plastic and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Deutsch is one of the top plastic surgeons in Atlanta and has two office locations in the Atlanta area. For more discussion of the breast reconstruction procedures that Dr. Deutsch offers, visit Perimeter Plastic Surgery or call (770) 461-4824 to schedule a consultation.

NAPW Hudson County Local Chapter Held Women’s Empowerment Brunch on June 16th and Honored Four Influential Women in the Community

Members and guests of the Hudson County Local Chapter gathered on June 5th for a professional networking meeting and finalized plans for their Women's Empowerment Brunch, a networking brunch whose theme was for women to 'connect, learn, grow, and inspire.' All of their hard work paid off, and the event, which was held on June 16th, was a huge success. A networking meeting was also held on July 27th where plans were discussed for two upcoming community projects.

This was the Hudson County Chapter's first Women's Empowerment Brunch. It was a well-attended event and attendees included Chapter members, guests, community leaders, and honorees. During the brunch, four women, Senator Sandra B. Cunningham, Dr. Andrea Blake-Garrett, Donna Swearingen, and Monique of Monique Techniques Hair Salon, were honored by the Chapter for their accomplishments and contributions to the community of Hudson County.

"June 16, 2012 was a phenomenal day! We successfully met our mission to empower women and young adults to connect, learn, grow, and network," said La-Trenda. "Forty wonderful women attended our Woman Empowerment Brunch at the Hoboken Business Center in which we honored influential women in the Hudson County Community."

La-Trenda kicked off the event with an address to the audience where she welcomed guests and shared the Hudson County Chapter Mission Statement. Priscella Ortiz sang the Star Spangled Banner followed by accomplished opera singer Lisa Hall who shared her inspiring story of courage and survival. Community leaders such as Mayor Brian Stack of Union City, N.J., Hoboken, N.J. Police Officer Jason Falco, La-Shaunda Ross, and Super Foods Convenience Store as well as fellow members Tiffany Turner of Sweet Ice Jewelry, and Avon Independent Sales Representative Angela Carter, and other NAPW members sponsored and donated food and gifts for the open buffet and raffle.

Once members and guests had an opportunity to eat and network, awards were presented to the honorees. Among the honorees were Senator Sandra B. Cunningham, Dr. Andrea Blake-Garrett, Donna Swearingen, and Monique of Monique Techniques Hair Salon.

"From highly active contributions to the community acknowledged by the NAACP, to being a successful children's author and advocate for education, to donating hair care services to women with lupus, to overcoming extreme personal tribulations, these women all have a story and as members of NAPW we were thrilled to have the opportunity to honor them and their accomplishments," said La-Trenda.

"In short, our first Hudson County Chapter Women's Empowerment Brunch was a major success. We got so much positive feedback from the honorees as well as from the guests of the event," La-Trenda continued." We look forward to planning this event for next year in which we can empower women and young adults to connect, learn, grow, and network all over again."

At the networking meeting prior to the Women's Empowerment Brunch, which was held on June 5th, Chapter President La-Trenda Ross welcomed members and guests and the group worked together as plans for the brunch were finalized. Before the planning discussion began, the group introduced themselves and their professions. Members who had attended the NAPW National Networking Conference in May shared their experiences with the others including the many networking opportunities they encountered. La-Trenda told how one of her guests at the meeting was someone she met at the Conference.

The group also discussed the Local Chapter Rewards Program and ways they can promote the Hudson County Chapter and increase their charitable involvement. One idea included collaborating with the Hoboken Homeless Shelter's Women's group in the fall as well as Women Rising Organization to empower women through hands-on social service acts such as donating clothing, workshops for job readiness, etc.

The discussion then turned to the upcoming Women's Networking Brunch. Plans were well underway, with the venue set for the Hoboken Business Center and local media, such as the Jersey Journal and a plethora of other sources, notified about the event. Social Media and Craig's List were also used to promote the event. Food donations such as bagels, pastries, and fruit from various local businesses and Chapter members were still being accepted and NAPW members and a few local businesses also offered to donate prizes for raffles at the end of the brunch.

The meeting ended with a number of special announcements regarding upcoming events in the community such as Youth Partnership: Advocates Against Mental Health Stigmas Milk and Cereal Drive for June Hunger Awareness Month. Members have offered to donate goods on the behalf of NAPW Hudson County Chapter on June 18th. Delores Daniels also shared information about her "You're Not Alone" domestic violence organization and her upcoming event on Saturday, July 14th. Aja Pacheco and Reverend Pamela Loving-Felts won the Let's Cruise One Thursday Night Sunset Cruise raffle. Refreshments served were pizza, juice, carrots, and cookies.

The attendees for the June 5th meeting were President La-Trenda Ross, Vice President and Secretary Gervasia Archer, Hospitality and Outreach Betty Rentas, Jeanie Adarraga, Delores Daniels, Reverend Pamela Loving-Felts, Media Relations Angela Carter, Aja Pacheco; a high school student volunteering her service as a graphic artist to create our chapter flyers, Jeannette Seacrest, Habiba Chaundhry, Karena King, and Arlene Pacheco.

The Hudson County's networking event held on July 27th was another successful, engaging, and effective meeting that was attended by more than a dozen members and guests.

"There were 13 fabulous women with a meaningful and committed spirit, which filled the room with laughter, smiles, energy, and motivation," said La-Trenda.

The Chapter President thanked Maria Somorza for taking a look at the Chapter's flyer and reaching o women's coats ut to NAPW for advice and help. She also mentioned that Omayra Lisojo will host a Chapter FitMeet in a few months.

"Our NAPW Chapter meetings are not always about meeting and planning, we have fun, too!" said La-Trenda. "We are going to get our exercise on with Omayra.

The Hudson County Local Chapter is gearing up for two important and valued community projects, the Spa/Makeover Day for Displaced Women at the Hoboken Homeless Shelter and a Back-to-School Supplies drive for two establishments that provide services to women and children.

"We are super duper excited about helping others and committing our time to various causes we feel strongly about," said La-Trenda. "We are seeking donations for school supplies and gift items for the displaced women, please reach out us."

Members and guests enjoyed refreshments from Paparazzi Italian – Two X-LG 18 Pizzas only $18.95. La-Trenda also thanked Aja, a young and talented baker who gave out delicious cupcakes to the attendees. She also thanked Joanna Castellanos for the beautiful gift basket filled with spa items.

"I will be using those items soon. Oh yes, peace and tranquility," said La-Trenda. "Joanna, our lucky raffle winner, won comedy club tickets for two which is too funny because she is the one who gave me the gift basket."

Attendees at the meeting included members Dolores Daniels, Gervasia Archer, Joanna Castellanos, Glenda M. Salley Perkins, Betty Rentas, Angela Mcknight, Valeria Frank, Arlene Pacheco, Jeannie Adarrajo, and Chapter President, La-Trenda Ross. Three new guests, including Chiffon Abney, who drove all the way from Brooklyn, were also at the meeting.

Trials Confirm DuPont Enzymes Offer Sustainability Benefits for Cotton Textile Production

DuPont Industrial Biosciences today presented results of collaborative trials with Pacific Textiles Limited Ltd, a Hong Kong-based manufacturer of custom fabrics, which demonstrate the significant sustainability benefits of bio-based enzymes used to replace traditional chemicals in cotton textile processing at bulk-scale production. DuPont's enzymes are derived from natural resources and are biodegradable.

Speaking about DuPont's strategy to address global energy needs and biobased solutions at the Sustainable Textiles Conference, DuPont Industrial Biosciences Vice President John P. Ranieri reported that the trials with Pacific Textiles found DuPont? PrimaGreen? enzymes used in combination can eliminate the need for caustic chemicals, while also dramatically reducing water, energy use and processing time. Ranieri said the trial with Pacific Textile confirmed the results from an earlier lab study DuPont conducted with Cotton Incorporated that was released in May 2012.

"The results of these ongoing trials at Pacific Textiles show we have taken our more eco-friendly enzymatic processes from the lab to full factory scale," said Mark Oostendorp, global business leader Textile Processing. "DuPont's enzymes provide the textile industry a more eco-friendly, high-quality and cost-effective alternative to chemicals commonly used in the pretreatment and finishing process of cotton textile manufacturing."

The results of the Cotton Incorporated study found that the use of DuPont? PrimaGreen?, as a replacement to traditional chemicals in cotton textile preparation, led to an average reduction of 70 percent water (by liter); 33 percent steam (in pounds); and 27 percent in energy (as kWH) across dark, medium and light shade ranges. By bio-optimizing these processes, total production time was reduced by an average of 27 percent. In the Cotton Incorporated trial, the cotton knits produced showed good whiteness values, mote removal, maintenance of fabric strength and weight, and were receptive to dark, medium and light dye shades.

"The main advantages of using the DuPont? PrimaGreen? process are savings in processing time and water," said Ronald K.K. Chan, assistant supervisor at Pacific Textiles, who facilitated the trails. "The enzymes also will ensure we produce high-quality fabrics that have been created in a more sustainable and cost-effective process, which aligns with our company goal to save more energy and reduce emissions as demanded by our customers."

The DuPont? PrimaGreen? enzymes help save energy by allowing textile preparation to occur at much lower temperatures. In addition, DuPont's bio-enzymes also save water volume by enabling the same water bath to be used for multiple steps in the production process.

Pacific Textiles Ltd, based in Hong Kong, is a leading manufacturer of customized knitted fabric in the textile industry. The company production base is in Panyu, South China - heart of the Pearl River Delta Region. The production plant is well-equipped with advanced production facilities, including a scalable water treatment facility and cogeneration power plant, which are keys to production efficiency and flexibility. Its finished fabrics comprise more than 5,000 designs and specifications to sell to the global market. The fabrics are used in a broad range of garments, including men's, women's and children' clothing, sportswear, swimwear and inner-wear. It has established relationships with owners and leading brands worldwide.

Cotton Incorporated, funded by U.S. growers of upland cotton and importers of cotton and cotton textile products, is the research and marketing company representing upland cotton. The program is designed and operated to improve the demand for and profitability of cotton.

DuPont – one of the first companies to publicly establish environmental goals more than 20 years ago – has broadened its sustainability commitments beyond internal footprint reduction to include market-driven targets for both revenue and research and development investment. The goals are tied directly to business growth, specifically to the development of safer and environmentally improved new products for key global markets.

DuPont (NYSE: DD) has been bringing world-class science and engineering to the global marketplace in the form of innovative products, materials, and services since 1802. Everyday Noble Clothing Motocross Team Dominates 2012

This year has been especially good to the three Motocross riders from the Everyday Noble Clothing Racing team; not so for their competition.

As the final race of the season approaches, rider Aaron Gulley is poised to deliver his second consecutive title in the 250 Pro Class. Meanwhile, teammate and brother, Adam Gulley, as well as the newest addition to the Everyday Noble Clothing Racing Team, Kyle Hussey, are competing with Aaron for the top spots in the 450 Pro Class. Depending on the outcome of the last race, it's not out of the question that the three riders could finish in a three-way tie for first.

"It's huge, plain and simple," says founder and organizer of the Everyday Noble Clothing Racing Team, Josh Reed. "Over the years, these guys have made names for themselves because of their success in the Motocross circuit. But every year's a new year, and there's always fresh talent coming up through the ranks, so for these guys to be in this position at this time of year," continues Reed, "it's a proud day for Everyday Noble Clothing Racing.

Relatively new to the Motocross scene, the Everyday Noble Clothing Racing Team is getting an early taste of success. Like their sponsor, a streetwear brand that features a full line of hoodies, snapbacks, tees and more, the riders for Everyday Noble Clothing tout a combination of passion and work ethic as one of the key reasons for their immediate success. "I think one of the reasons Everyday Noble Clothing is such a good fit is their commitment to living each day doing something we love, to making sure we give it our all," says reigning 250 Pro Class champion, Aaron Gully.

"I mean, just take a look at the name of their company. It's all there. And I think it's something Adam and Kyle and myself can really rally around."

For Reed, the 2012 ride has been a fun one, but he's hopeful that the journey is just getting started. "Aaron and Adam and Kyle were doing incredible things long before we got here, and it's been our pleasure to w women's coats online atch them do their thing over the course of this year," says Reed.

"If we can help them to sustain that success in the years to come, then that's exactly what we're going to do," says Reed.

Nigeria Business Membership Program Strategies Published By Wholesale Business CloseoutExplosion.com

Nigeria business tips have been published in a new report by CloseoutExplosion.com that explains how Nigerian boutiques can use membership programs. The report shows how a membership plan can be implemented by a Nigerian retailer to compete in the clothing marketplace, retain customers, and increase their sales. Membership plans have been successfully implemented by internationally known retailers such as Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Marshalls, Macy's, and JC Penney's. Their membership plans consist of offering a special credit card or having a loyalty club that can be joined either for free, or for a small annual fee.

CloseoutExplosion.com offers detailed ideas that can show retailers how to implement the use of a loyalty plan, and how it can be used by a boutique to stand out in competitive retail markets such as Lagos and Abuja. While these plans can be aimed at all customers, they can be especially effective at professional women such as Nigerian bankers. While every customer is important, the buying power of a banker working at Guaranty Trust Bank will be greater than that of an employee at Abibiz Restaurant or at the Ocean Basket Victoria Island.

"As a wholesaler that supplies designer office suits and social dresses to Nigeria I have received a good deal of positive feedback from my customers. I have used the insights that I have gained in distributing overstock brand name clothing, and my own research, to publish these effective sales ideas. I encourage all Nigerian retailers, whether they are serving Ibu, Hausa, Yoruba, or any other customers, to implement these concepts," said Donny Lowy, who manages WholesaleNigeria.com

Donny Lowy reviews ideas within this retail fashion concept such as:

-The Top Benefits Of Running A Membership Plan In Your Dress Shop
-Great Incentives That You Can Use To Encourage Your Customers To Sign Up
-Why You Should Charge Your Customers A Nominal Fee To Take Advantage Of Your Club
-The Power Of Exclusive Fashion Clubs
-How To Attract Customers Without Having To Advertise In The Nigerian Tribune, Punch, or the Sun News.
-Ideas For Obtaining Closeout Products For Free Which You Can Give To Your Shoppers
-How To Instantly Increase Your Customer Base When A Shopper Joins Your Retail Membership Program
-An Easy Way To Ask For Referrals, You Are Missing Out On Sales If You Are Not Doing This

"The demand for American and European designer labels in Africa is very large, as I have seen based on orders that my wholesale business has received from resellers in many countries, including Kenya, Botswana, South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Tanzania. While the opportunity to make money selling USA clothing, shoes, and handbags is vast, the competition is increasingly growing, which is why shops need to implement powerful sales tools to attract and retain customers," added Donny Lowy.

His closeout showroom is located very close to the New York Garment District, in a neighborhood called Greenpoint, which is part of Brooklyn. Liquidation and surplus buyers are welcome to visit and make thei women's jackets r own selections. International shipping can be arranged through freight forwarders such as Express Air Freight, Impex and Schenker.

In addition to supplying businesses in Africa, Closeout Explosion also works with resellers located through the United States, the Caribbean, Latin America, and the Middle East. Its customers include apparel shops, footwear stores, importers, exporters, flea market vendors, and eBay sellers.

Republican's 10 Big Lies to Get Into Office

"…in the big lie there is always a certain force of credibility; because the broad masses … more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods. It would never come into their heads to fabricate colossal untruths, and they would not believe that others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously."

This is how Adolph Hitler defined the political stratagem of "The Big Lie" in Mein Kampf. Hitler's propaganda chief, Joseph Goebbels, used the artifice of blaming his enemy, the British, for "The Big Lie" in order to hide his own. He said in "From Churchill's Lie Factory," dated January 12, 1941, "The English follow the principle that when one lies, one should lie big, and stick to it. They keep up their lies, even at the risk of looking ridiculous."

The American Republican Party has taken "The Big Lie" as a political concept to new heights of mendacity. Conservatives have accused Liberals of big lies recently so here is my list of the 10 Big Lies Republicans are telling the American people.

Big Lie #1: Lower Taxes Create Jobs. Under President George W. Bush, businesses and wealthy Americans enjoyed the lowest taxes in a century, and yet only 1.1 million jobs were created in that 8-year period, as compared to 22.7 million created during President Bill Clinton's term, before the tax reduction. Furthermore, President Bush was credited with the loss of 1.55 million jobs in his last 3 months in office, and that momentum carried over to the loss of 1.83 million jobs during the first 3 months of President Obama's Administration. Republicans must admit that President Obama was handed a collapsing economy.

Big Lie #2: Republicans Reduce the Deficit and National Debt. Statistics clearly show that the last Republican President to reduce the National Debt as a percent of Gross Domestic Product ("GDP") was Richard Nixon, not someone we usually associate with fiscal concerns. President George W. Bush increased the National Debt from 56.4% to 84.6% of the GDP, about $6.1 Trillion in round numbers. Even though saddled with President Bush's vastly increased debt service, President Obama has only increased the debt by $1.7 Trillion, while faced with saving the American economy from total collapse. Every Democrat since Roosevelt has reduced the National Debt as a percent of GDP, while every Republican except Eisenhower and Nixon has increased the debt.

Big Lie #3: Lower Taxes Help New Businesses Create Jobs. This is Republican bologna of the first order. New businesses never have income taxes, because in their startup period they are spending more money than they're earning. Furthermore, since they usually suffer losses during a startup period of at least 2-3 years, they have "tax loss carry forward" in later tax years. Therefore, income taxes rarely enter into any decisions relating to creating new businesses.

Big Lie #4: Social Security and Medicare Will Go Bankrupt. No they will not, because the solution is simple. Everyone earning under $106,800 pays Social Security tax on 100% of his or her income. If you earn more than $106,800, you pay nothing on the amount over that amount. This means that someone earning $1 Million per year pays less than 1% of their income for Social Security. How is it fair to have such regressive taxes? The wealthy take the most from our society in the form of assets we all buy: they have roads for their trucks, armies to defend them, and education for their employees, among many other benefits that most of us pay for but use very sparingly. Secondly, our population has grown more than 50% since the end of the "Baby Boom", so while that generation is larger, the population paying taxes to cover their benefits is also growing very fast. Republicans, who have already arranged for less than 1% of our population to control more than 50% of our national wealth, are just hoping to take even more, and create a society of slaves to debt. Some would say they have already succeeded!

Big Lie #5: Republicans Believe in "Family Values". Well, perhaps they do, but the ones they use in politics are just diversions to keep Americans from talking about how the wealthy are ripping off the country and most of us. Here's their list:

a) Abortion: Prohibiting abortion will save exactly zero babies. Before abortion became legal in the United States, about 16% of our medical community was regularly committing felonies by performing illegal abortions. Did criminalizing our medical community help the nation? How about those well meaning sorority sisters with their coat hangers? Was that better? How many places in the world can someone go to get an abortion today? If we criminalize abortions again, babies will not be saved, we'll go back to the bad old days, and we'll further brutalize our society once again.

b) Gay Rights: What business is it of ours to even think about what our neighbors do in the privacy of their bedrooms? Do you live in a glass house? Why are we even talking about this? Do we think we will stop the behavior by making it more difficult for our fellow countrymen to live their lives? What are Conservative Republicans thinking? I think they're just using the usual smoke and mirrors to hide the fact that they are destroying our future.

c) Evolution: Conservative Republicans support fundamentalists who want us to believe that humans were developed by "intelligent design" 5,000 years ago. They need to stop supporting militant ignorance. We have remains of human ancestors dating back 4 million years, and we can see back to within 500,000 years of the "Big Bang" and down to particles smaller than atoms. Why are we militantly and ignorantly denying science? Is this the way to make the United States of America the envy of the world again? I recently heard a news story saying that a fundamentalist Christian was mad at a teacher for revealing to an 11-year-old girl that the "tooth fairy" does not exist. What are they thinking? How will children raised in those environments cope with our steadily more complex real world?

Big Lie #6: Barack Obama Is Responsible for the "Obama Economy". George W. Bush handed President Obama a collapsing economy caused by the profligacy of his Wall Street supporters. As the #OccupyWallStreet movement is beginning to show, Americans aren't buying the Republican game any more. Most of us remember President Bush and his cronies doling out nearly $1 Trillion in TARP (read "stimulus" or "bailout") before they left office. The Republican Party needs to change its obstructionist behavior.

Big Lie #7: "Obama Care" Is Bad? Well, it's an interesting buzz word the Republicans are using to hide the fact that before the healthcare changes passed during the Obama Administration, there were over 40 million Americans without health insurance, and many children and people with pre-existing conditions could not obtain health insurance from the Republicans' insurance company allies at any cost. Of course, the wealthy could care less about that. If you pay yourself a $100 million bonus, you don't have to worry about health insurance.

Big Lie #8: Democrats Are Soft on National Defense. So far, the Republicans are looking pretty ridiculous on this one. First they told "The Big Lie" to get us into a war in Iraq, thereby creating hundreds of millions of new enemies for us in the Middle East. Next they refused to follow the Geneva Convention, thereby proving to those new enemies that we are not the benevolent country we think and pretend we are. And now Republican candidates are implying that they want to get us into another war with Iran. Just great! Meanwhile, President Obama has shown a quiet and effective methodology for handling our foreign affairs: "Speak softly, but carry a big stick."

Big Lie #9: Ronald Reagan's Administration Was Good for the Economy. Ronald Reagan's performance on our National Debt was the worst of any President in history. During the Reagan Administration the National Debt increased from $930 Billion to $2.68 Trillion, and increase of 2.89 times over the level it was when he took office.

Big Lie #10: Illegal Immigration Will Be Stopped by a Republican President. Mitt Romney ran an "amnesty state" during his time as Massachusetts Governor, while Rick Perry made coming to this country more attractive by allowing illegal immigrants to pay in-state tuition at state universities. As long as we have illegal immigration, we will have an artificial slave class in the United States, because illegal immigrants are not protected by minimum wage statutes. All of the evidence over the last 3-4 decades says that neither major party will push for sensible immigration reform.

So there you have it! Ten "Big Lies" the Republicans are telling to win the White House and control of Congress. Are we going to continue to stand for it?

Winter Walks in the Belgian Ardennes

Interested in exploring the Belgian Ardennes on foot this winter? It's the ideal location for a good dose of fresh air in the hills. But before you scurry off to find your hiking boots, I feel obliged to give you three small pieces of advice.

First, there is a high chance that you will become addicted, because the Ardennes is a wonderful region for walking. It's easily accessible by car, train or bus; there are hundreds of well-marked walking routes of various lengths; the scenery is breathtaking; the nature is fascinating; and yet you are never too far from a café, hotel or village shop. In other words, once you have walked in the Ardennes, your free weekends may never be the same again.

Second, be prepared for sudden changes in the weather. I have set off in glorious sunshine to find myself in a hail storm just an hour later. In addition, the higher you ascend, the colder will be that chill wind. So dress for the worst eventuality. For a winter walk, this means warm clothing, sensible footwear, a waterproof coat, gloves and a hat. Take sufficient water and snacks; personally I always take a thermos flask of hot soup. And do not leave your mobile phone at home.

Third, take a detailed walking map. These are readily available from local bookshops and tourist offices. Plan in advance to know where you intend to walk, and the length and duration of your route. This will help avoid unpleasant surprises, especially if you are taking children with you.

So, armed with these hopefully helpful warnings, it's time to pack up your backpack and go. But where? It's easy to look at a map of the Ardennes and feel overwhelmed by all the possibilities, so a few of my personal favorites might help you decide where to start.

Hertogenwald Forest, Eupen

I am particularly fond of this area as it was my first encounter with the Ardennes. It offers a splendid mixture of landscapes: impenetrable, silent, coniferous forests; deserted moorland stretching to the horizon; and picturesque babbling brooks. It can be reached by taking the N67 south-east from Eupen. Halfway to Monschau is the Ternell Nature Center. This old forester's house was built in 1770 and transformed two hundred years later into a museum and information center. I recommend the route heading north-east from the nature center into the forest. The first time I walked this route I had to cross the River Getzbach by taking off my boots and socks and wading across. When I returned a few years later, I was quite disappointed to find a bridge had been installed. Next to the nature center is a cosy tavern serving excellent snacks. When ordering, don't forget that you are in German-speaking Belgium!

River Ourthe, La Roche-en-Ardenne

If you want to make a weekend of your trip to the Ardennes, La Roche-en-Ardenne is an excellent base from which to explore the River Ourthe, as it offers numerous hotels and restaurants. Most people walking in this area will be drawn to the well-known sights of the Nadrin Belvedere, the Nisramont Dam, Saint Margeurite's Cross and the confluence of the two Ourthes (Orientale and Occidentale). All of these are well worth visiting, but if like me you prefer to steer away from the crowds, then I would recommend trying one of the less popular but equally outstanding walks from the villages of Maboge, Grande Mormont or Bonnerue. My tip would be the 8 km Champs Thomas walk from Maboge. The deserted uplands seem to be a favorite hunting ground at this time of the year for hen harriers. These rare birds of prey are similar to the more commonly seen buzzards but have a white rump and fly with their wings held in a shallow 'V' as they glide low over the fields in search of a mouse or vole.

Anlier Forest

Even deeper into the Ardennes, between Martelange and Habay-la-Neuve in the province of Luxemburg, is the huge 7000-hectare Anlier Forest, one of the biggest forests in the country. Its northern slopes reach an altitude of 517 meters and are drained by the tributary streams of the River S?re, which flows into Germany as the Sauer and eventually into the Moselle. The forest is so vast that parts of it are virtually unexplored. Living in its deeper recesses are deer, wild boar, badgers, foxes and wildcats. I have enjoyed many hours walking alo women's jackets ng the banks of the rivers S?re and Géronne hoping to catch a glimpse of an otter, which is making a comeback in this region. Beavers have also been re-introduced into these river systems. A particularly attractive walk starts from Volaiville and gives you close-up views of two watermills on the Géronne.

These three walks will give you an excellent introduction to this lovely area in the south of Belgium.

The Six Pillars Of Persuasion Knowledge That Could Save Your Pocketbook

Have you ever purchased something and then immediately realized you wish you hadn't, or tried to figure out how that salesperson at the store or door got you to purchase something you never really wanted in the first place?

This recently happened to a friend of mine named John. You see, he recently got his carpets cleaned for free. After having hung up the phone and trying to figure out what he got himself into when he signed for the free carpet cleaning he knew something was up because one never gets something for free, not from a total stranger anyway.

Those nagging doubts were nothing compared to the regretted purchase of a $2,000 vacuum that left him scratching his head thinking. "Now how did that happen?" Especially when he was not even thinking about purchasing one before he had his carpets shampooed for free.

It got me to thinking about the power of persuasion in its many different forms. Has this ever happened to you? From time to time we all find ourselves buying something we hadn't intended to, or coming home with something we really didn't want.

Most of the time we are blissfully unaware of the forces that motivate us to purchase things we had not intended to, and it is a driving force behind today's need to have it society that is living beyond their means. However, it can also help salespeople make their living.

History, society, and its cultures have conditioned people to be vulnerable to six highly specific catalysts for behavior motivation or change. They are ingrained so deeply that they are readily used for persuasion by people of all sorts.

A comprehensive analysis performed by Dr. Robert Cialdini in is publication "The New Psychology of Modern Persuasion," states that these tactics "can make us unwittingly switch from objection to acceptance to compliance regardless of our intent."

Behavioral Occurrences in Nature and Society

These fixed action patterns are nearly mechanical and commonly seen in mating rituals of different species. Commonly an activation trigger is a commonly threaded feature. This is usually a specific attribute that compels the other to react. This may include direct eye contact, color patterns, or pre-behavior cues.

In an experiment with turkeys, hens cuddled fake cats with bared teeth and fangs simply because they emulated the cheep-cheep sound like a chick. The distress cal overrode all the other instinctual cues. Even in face of danger the hens tried to console their "chicks" due to a strong instinct to preserve the species.

This stereotypical behavior is useful due to its efficient form and automatic form of behavior patterns in a complex environment.

Attempting to decipher every observation on the matters of behavioral persuasion is impractical and time consuming. It could become time consuming and paralyzing. Therefore, shortcuts need to be made. Stereotypical rules-of-thumb can help greatly to advance us each day through the rigors placed on us by the media. Then, when we encounter these, we could respond accordingly. Then these socially acceptable and accepted behaviors could work out well for us.

Humans, unfortunately, are just as susceptible as turkeys to behavioral modification triggers. Often time these triggers can be activated by "compliance professionals," such as sales people and the media. It would be efficient to have the six triggers that compel us to act in a certain way committed to our knowledge base so we can understand what makes us react in a certain way given each situation.

The First: Reciprocation

Reciprocity is a rule about repayment. We should try to repay what others have provided to us in some way. It says that we are obligated to return compensation for favors, gifts, invitations and even in conversations. It is a crucial aspect to species survival and to progress of civilization. Its meaning is evident; we can give things away without fear of loosing resources and thus protect, or even increase resources.

We can see evidence in this from the phrase "much obliged" which stems from the more natural "thank you." Cultural studies show that there is not a culture on this planet that does not adhere to this rule. It keeps us from appearing to be moochers, ingrates, or appearing lazy.

There are two major examples of this that can be readily seen in society. One famous one is that of the Hare Krishna religious sect. After failed attempts to raise adequate contributions they resorted to different tactics. They adopted reciprocity and gave out flowers to passerby. After refusing to accept the flowers back, they then requested a donation. This approach helped strangers overcome their fear, distrust, and dislike for the sect. their donations soon skyrocketed.

A second form can be seen in another group for disabled veterans. After going door to door requesting donations they son decided to try reciprocity. They simply gave home owners a lapel pin and asked it they would mind wearing it for a few days. Then they moved on to giving them free yard sign as a method of support. Finally, they came back around and requested donations. Their donations rose by over 75% that year.

The Second: Commitment and Consistency

This trigger comes from a desire to appear to be consistent with our previous actions or implied actions. Once we have made a choice or taken a stand on an issue or topic, we inevitably think we must comply with various pressures that would cause us to comply with our earlier commitments. This would then, justify our earlier decisions. We would strive to base all future actions on this emotion rather than clearly thought out, rational actions based on logic.

We can best see this behavior in action at casinos, race tracks, and other sources of gambling. Before the first bet is placed, usually a lot of thought goes into the decision. Mostly the bettor will try to understand if the best choice was made. After the first bet has been made there is no going back. The need for a consistent action and consistency of behavior brings the bettor into a pattern that matches the initial action. The bettor then will continue with the same pattern since they feel justified, or they feel they must justify their previous actions.

Many times we fool ourselves into thinking that we must continue to act in a certain way so as to be consistent with our previously held belief system and patterns of action. Being wishy-washy or inconsistent is usually seen as a negative thing.

The Third: Social Proof

Social justification is a strong trigger. It is often also called peer-pressure. It simply describes a desire to act in a manner that other people think of as correct. It usually defines most people's ideas about correct behavior. We often feel a behavior is correct or justified if we see others performing this behavior. It's the old adage "monkey see monkey do."

Social pressure or compliance to accepted behavior generally means we will make fewer mistakes if we act the same way others do. Usually there is some social evidence against or for the behavior. What people around us do is usually seen as the correct thing to do. In most circumstances this is true, staying in the lines while driving or at the grocery check out lines are prime examples.

Another example of how it is being used to manipulate people is in sit-com television. More and more shows are being aired that would have formerly been found to be repulsive by the masses. This is simply because of the canned laughter used by the shows imply that others like it, so should you. And it has been an effective technique since the first sit-com aired many years ago.

Research suggests that audiences will laugh longer and harder when the cue is implied. It is even effective for substandard behavior that otherwise would be directly repulsive or unentertaining. Its direct and effective motivation deeply effects consumer behavior and thus improves a production companies or commercials effect.

The Fourth: Liking

Knowing and liking someone may be one of the biggest motivators yet. It certainly is a ver women's jackets y strong trigger. Either knowing and liking someone, or wanting them to know and like us may motive us to comply with many things.

This can be seen in most network marketing businesses. Simply get the hostess to invite people who know and like her, or that she knows and likes and they will feel obligated to purchase something form a complete stranger. We can see this in Tupperware, make-up businesses, and other hostess and party type based network marketing home businesses. Those who come to the party will purchase things form someone they hardly know just because they like the hostess and feel obligated. They feel good about their purchases simply base on this fact.

Other network marketers take a different angle. They attempt, and sometimes successfully, to establish a friendly relationship in an effort to get you to like them. A prime example is a car salesman who made the Guinness Book of World Records as the "world's greatest salesman" by selling five cars per day using this tactic and offering a fair price.

The Fifth: Authority

Many are compelled by authority to act on given commands. Its lead or be lead trigger that makes most follow authority to "safety." It signals the willingness of humans to go to any extreme length while submitting themselves to commands from authority figures. It also shows the sheer strength authority has on people.

It has its advantages when placed in society. In general, an accepted system of authority allows for the development of a social structure to take on a sophisticated nature and develop systems for commerce, leadership, defense, and enables a society to move as a whole toward a common goal. It benefits such things in society as resource protection, trade, expansion, social justice, and a government control that would be hard to impart without it. Because authority implies access for followers to more resources, and implies protection of resources and life, it makes it easy to get people to comply with those in authority. The notion of complying with authority is generally trained from birth on as the right thing to do, and the necessary thing to follow and disobedience is deemed wrong or discouraged.

One famous study we have all heard of if we have ever taken a course on psychology of the human mind is that of a panel of participants who were under the command of an authority figure wearing a lab coat. The lab coat wearing participants were instructed to steadily implement increasingly painful shocks to another third panel of participants. Unknown to the participants following the lab coat wearers orders, the third group really were not receiving shocks at all. But that did not stop them from continually turning up the shock level of the machine and repeatedly administering shocks no matter how much pain the third participants pretended to be in.

The Sixth: Scarcity

Ever see those "limited time" offers? Scarcity is a trigger used to imply dwindling resources and a must have desire. Its appeal is based on merits that imply it's unavoidable to run out, or will be completely unavailable at some point and must be pickled up now. As long as it is less available, on a limited supply basis, has an imposed deadline, or is extremely rare it will be perceived as very valuable.

The ubiquitous time-sensitive offerings used in marketing make this claim all too clearly. They imply that customer must purchase this item before it is too late. These are often staring us straight in the face as one time sales events, never really going-out-of-business sales, fake count down timers, and other compelling offers such as "a limited number will be sold," or "a limited number may join."

In reality, the supply is not really limitless, nor is anything in the virtual or real world that can be produced by man ever going to suddenly disappear forever. At least this is not usually the case in our lifetimes.

Online Dating And He's Just Not "In It" For Love

Copyright (c) 2011 Dirk Sayers

A couple weeks ago, I ran across an article on one of the many blogs I crawl from time to time, entitled "5 Signs He's Not In It for Love," by Alina Mikos. She offers a cogent feminine perspective that many men would do well to read. But it's only half the picture and in the interest of balance, I couldn't resist offering another point of view for my readers in making the best of their online dating experiences. Her five signs he's not "in it" for love were:

1. He's always checking out other women.
2. Every good deed seems to come with strings.
3. He doesn't make an effort to spend quality time with you.
4. He doesn't share much of himself.
5. He only shows interest in you as it relates to him.

Reasonable enough at first blush, but let's take them in order and look a little deeper.

#1. He's always checking out other women. What? Women never check out other men? Of course he checks out other women. It doesn't necessarily mean he is not "in it" for love. It just means his eyes still work. He looks for reasons as old as the caves. Expect it: guys in particular are visual. Don't make him wrong for it. Instead, use it to your advantage. Encourage it and pay attention to what catches his eye. It can help you draw him even closer.

#2. Every good deed seems to come with strings. I agree. This attitude is problematic when you run into it. In fact, this is one of the 3 "C"s I write about often; Content, Context and Comfort. This observation pertains to Comfort; specifically his interest in your comfort, irrespective of quid pro quo. And if he isn't interested in your Comfort now, it won't get better later. Time to go, before you become too attached. If you're already there, you can always try changing him...(good luck). In most cases, you're better off moving on, before your relationship becomes a one-way energy black hole.

#3. He doesn't make the effort to spend quality time with you. This one's tricky. Remember that guys (with notable exceptions) tend to need/want more space than women. This a Content issue, another of the 3 "C"s I write about. You absolutely should spend quality time together. If you feel this is a problem, my immediate question is have you found things you both like to do (besides the obvious); things both of you consider to be "quality time?" If not, invent some; or get used to the fact that quality time will have to work around all the other things you both like to do on your own. When all the dust clears, that's likely to feel a little hollow.

#4. He doesn't share much of himself. Alina offers the opinion that guys in love will necessarily want to share their dreams, goals and fears, as well as the kind of day he had. Really? The world is full of guys who can't wait to leave their day behind them. You, in fact, may be the best part of his day. That he's not sharing the details of his work day (for example) doesn't mean they don't love you. Ditto for goals, fears and dreams. You'll get a broad overview, in the early stages of courtship, especially if you ask. If you don't ask, he may keep his dreams to himself for reasons that have nothing to do with his feelings about you. Perhaps he's uncertain if he can deliver on his dreams and doesn't want to raise expectations he can't fulfill. Fears? He's likely to keep to them to himself; especially if he's afraid of acknowledging them. Getting him to open up about them may require you to ask, cajole; and to open up about things that are inherently very private to you. Like the shadowy realm of your sexual fantasies, for example. Not the same thing, you say? Sure it is. We all have things that make us squirm.

#5. He only shows interest in you as it relates to him. Okay. I agree that he needs to make room for the unique you that you are, at some point. But a plea for sanity, here. Men do not simply blossom one day into paragons of love and caring over night, for the same reason perfectly wonderful women need to learn how to love their men without smothering them. Unless the guy has already been there, done that, he will probably need not only LEARN to love you, but also HOW. One of the most certain ways to disappointment I can think of when it comes to men, is to expect them to understand you perfectly.

The foregoing are observations are true, no matter how you meet. If you're meeting online, it's not unreasonable to expect he's learned some of these lessons, especially if he's north of 30. They're likely to know a few things about what women in general are likely to cons women's jackets ider a balanced relationship. But he won't know the specifics as they apply to you: help him learn.

Please note I said help him learn, NOT teach. There's a world of difference between facilitating learning and teaching him a lesson; the most obvious difference being whether he's sticks around to learn the next one. Wise women know this. They also know that indicators of any feeling (like Alina's five signs) are subject to interpretation. Lastly, they realize that love is interactive and interwoven with their own behaviors. Most men are capable of love. It takes the right approach (just as it does with women) for it to grow.

Statistics show that 80% of most sales come from a mere 20% of a businesses client base. The best way to increase results among that 20% is to get to really know your customers. Research is vital when marketing to existing customers. Some things you'll need to know before implementing a new marketing strategy are:

-Who your current clients are
-What your clients needs are
-Why they use your product or service
-When they use your product or ser women's jackets vice
-Why they buy your product and service
-How your product or service can better benefits both your existing customers, as well as future clients

Getting To Know Your Competition:
No matter what business you're in, there's always a similar one on your coat tails, trying to better position themselves in your market. Customers can be fickle, and may decide to jump ship if they think they'll get a better deal elsewhere. The best way to prevent losing customers to new or existing competitors is to keep a close on what's going on in the industry and who the new players are. Take special care to watch for promotions and marketing schemes that may help your competitors lure away your customer base.

Find A Market Niche:
Customers are always on the look out for something new and different. Maybe they want to keep using your tried and true product because of its quality or availability. Don't take their loyalty for granted. Always be on the lookout for better prices; special offers; more selection, virtually anything that will interest them into ordering again and again and again.

Niche marketing can be a good way to keep the customers you have and gain new ones from word of mouth advertising. Some businesses are known for their great prices; while other charge more, but rely on their high quality to make the sale. What is your business "known" for? If the answer is nothing, your next marketing plan should start there.

Limit Yourself:
No one (or business) can do it all - and you shouldn't try. Don't try to have the best prices, biggest selection and highest quality in town. Figure out what your customers want and expect and then give it to them in the best way you know how. Trying to be too many things to too many people will result in weak expectations; poor sales; and dwindling customer loyalty.

No matter what type of marketing plan you devise, the key is to know your customer; be prepared to give them what they want and need; watch your competition and find your own niche in the industry. Once you can accomplish that, any marketing strategy is bound to work.

Dealing With Menopuause

In medical terms, menopause is the stage in a womans health when the ovaries stop producing estrogen and the reproductive cycle begins to wind down. The most common age for the onset of menopause is around 50 years old, although women who have had cancer, diabetes, thyroid disease or other auto immune deficiencies can have the onset of menopause as early as 40 years old. For a very small number of women, menopause can begin at as early as 30 years old. Menopause can also come about as a result of surgery, such as a hysterectomy where the ovaries are removed.

Menopause represents a dramatic change in a womans hormone levels, and results in a number of side effects, some of which can cause a far bit of discomfort and disruption in a womans life.

The most common symptoms are hot flashes and night sweats. Menopause can also cause urinary problems, such as increased urgency or frequency. The change in hormones can cause joint pain, and most troubling, speed up the onset of osteoporosis. Even more worrying, menopause can have a large effect on a womans psychological health. A woman going through menopause will often feel tired and irritable, with a lowered sex drive and even memory loss.

The most common way to deal with menopause is with hormone replacement therapy (HRT). A HRT treatment reduces many of the common symptoms of menopause by giving the body a synthetic estrogen. This approach is particularly useful for women at heightened risk for osteoporosis because it slows the reduction of bone mass. However, while many health professionals still recommend HRT as an important treatment, some studies have shown that it can increase the risk of heart attacks, strokes and breast cancer. Some women also object to treating menopause as a disease that needs to be cured with drugs.

Regardless of uses HRT or not, a key component of any attempt to deal with menopause is exercise. Indeed, all women should exercise at least 30 minutes a day to help prevent many of the problems that can later be associated with menopause. The younger a woman starts exercising, the lower her risk of osteoporosis. Along with a active lifestyle, women should also have a healthier diet, focusing on foods low in fat and cholesterol. Women should also ensure that they are getting large amounts of Vitamin D and calcium.

While there is no way to make the symptoms of menopause go away, women can adopt strategies to deal with them. If a woman is having trouble falling asleep at night, she should avoid caffeine in the evening, and establishing a set routine for bed times. Women effected by mood swings can try relaxation techniques such as yoga, while women dealing with memory problems can keep her mind fresh with memory exercises. If a women's coats woman is experiencing hot flashes, (a common complaint), they should pay attention to what they are eating or what else is going on in their lives could be triggering the flashes. Caffeine, alcohol, spicy foods and stress, for example, have all been found to trigger hot flashes in some women.

Fashion: To Do or Not to Do, That Is the Question

Always give yourself the right to choose whatever you are most excited about.

Your closet must always have classic fashions. No matter what your personal fashion taste is, you can never go wrong with those basic items of clothing that that can be dressed up for an evening event, or dressed down for a casual look. Also, classic clothing can be accessorized for an updated look by adding current jewelry, a bold scarf, or a chic belt.

It is better to know the difference between styles that are classics and styles that are simply trends. Classic styles are those items of clothing that are traditional and have a long lasting look, like the little black dress, the tailored suit, or the slim pant suit.

When you have classic fashions, you can go anywhere at any time. Especially when you select well-made pieces in good fabrics, they tend to last longer with each wear. In addition, they tend to feel and look better when you wear them.

Look for lightweight fabrics in natural fibers like silk, wool, and wool gabardine, cotton, linen, and cashmere. Many of the quality man-made synthetic fibers are suitable for long lasting wear. Make sure everything fits, especially your tailored pieces. Though, when alterations are necessary, for a better fit, it may be worth the time and money to visit a tailor or an expert seamstress.

For those of you who are hooked on the everyday casual look, you can still dress in your own way. Try adding a tailored jacket with your jeans, or a jean jacket with a good T-shirt and tailored skirt.

Classics don't have to be boring. Showing your creative side, why not wear an ethnic or artful scarf to give the classics your own unique style. Think about an African print tunic, a wide bracelet, or a Jade pendant.

Classics are also good for the budget conscious. Since classic clothing lasts longer, you will make fewer trips and spend less at the malls. With just that little black dress or a solid color suit, you can add a bold colored scarf, several chain necklaces, a three-quarter tunic, or different belts to create many new looks.

Here is a test...

With the wardrobe you now have in your closet, how many can be counted as classics? Do you have . . .

O At least one, three-piece suit consisting of a jacket, skirt and pants in a solid color.

O A navy blazer -- it makes an impression.

O At least one white shirt -- nothing beats a long sleeve, crisp cotton shirt.

O At least one pair of solid color slacks - can be paired with any top or jacket.

O Jeans -- Keep them clean and pressed.

O One little black dress -- All hail to this one item that can go day to evening.

O Formal wear -- Can be elegant separates that can be mixed and matched to make different outfits.

O An all-weather coat. The trench coat will always be a true classic.

O A smile - pulls your whole outfit together.

O A positive self image. Confidence and pride works wonders.

As long as you know the difference between the styles for daytime ca women's jackets sual and evening elegance, your choice of fashion will be in agreement with the appropriate occasion. Fashion style, fashion etiquette and good taste then, are the answers to the fashion question.

No Garage? Carports Offer Shade In The Summer And Protection In The Winter

Do you wish you had a garage to place your car in so that you can protect it from that summer sun and also protect it from the snow and ice in the winter? Many individuals wish such things because they hate it when they see their car getting pummeled by the elements. A car is a large investment, so it is heartbreaking when it has to go through what the weather inflicts on it. Such weather events as ice storms and hail storms can do large amounts of immediate damage to a car. As for the sun, it damages the car's clear coat and paint over time.

The solution

Fortunately, there is a solution to those long mornings of scraping ice off of your windshield or shoveling snow off your car and that is steel carports. You may wonder how steel carports can offer such protection since it a carport more or less consists of a roof that is held up by four posts, but you would be surprised. Here is what steel carports will do for you:

- You preserve the clear coat and paint of your car in the summer.
- Your car is protected from tho women's jackets se summer hail storms.
- You receive some protection from blowing debris during wind storms.
- Your car is protected from ice storms in the winter.
- The scraping of ice from your windows is minimal in the winter.
- You do not have to worry about large amounts of snow accumulating on your car.

Those are ways in which steel carports make your life easier. And to think that nothing will ever happen to your car is naive thinking. If you own a car for five to ten years, then you know something is going to happen to it. Some individuals own their cars for just a matter of days or weeks before something such as a major weather event causes damage. Don't let that be you.

Convenience

Steel carports are affordable and they are durable. They don't involve a team of construction workers to put up. You have the option of erecting your carport on your own or having others do it. It will be up in no time so that you can park your car under it as soon as possible.

Just think... you will no longer have to spend fifteen minutes of your mornings scraping ice and knocking snow off of your windows. Having to do such a task is not fun, let alone when you're already running late for work or for an appointment. We tend to forget that we have to do these things in the winter. Steel carports keep these tasks to a minimum. Another thing to take into consideration is the fact that protecting your car's exterior means that you are preserving the value of your car. You're minimizing the chance for external damage, which can hurt the resale or trade-in value of your car. So not only are you protecting your car, but you are also saving yourself money on future purchases. Those savings can either meet or exceed the cost of the carport, which means you're coming out ahead on the monetary end of things.

So now you see that there is a plethora of advantages to steel carports and that you need one if your car is sitting in your driveway without any type of protection. It beats having to use a tarp or car cover for your car everyday. Then again, something such as that doesn't protect it from hail and ice storms and can be a pain to have to remove after a winter snow. So save yourself time and money by investing in one of the many steel carports available to you.

The Melody Of Brushing And Combing Your Shih Tzu

These five steps are the fundamentals of Shih Tzu and any dog breed grooming procedure is:

1. Brushing and Combing
2. Bathing
3. Blow Drying
4. Ear Cleaning
5. Nail Trimming

The Shih Tzu is typical of a longhaired breed requiring constant coat care and most frequently require services of a professional groomer.

Brushing and combing melody:
Brushing out the coat of a Shih Tzu is the most important step in Shih Tzu dog grooming. The importance of regular Shih Tzu brushing is underscored by the fact that a Shih Tzu can be made presentable by brushing alone. Brushing your Shih Tzu is the foundation for all that follows and more time and effort should be devoted to it. The main ingredient to brushing the coat of a Shih Tzu is "manual labor." Thorough Shih Tzu brushing is mandatory before bathing since wetting a tangled, matted coat will only cause the coat to tangle and mat more. Combing out the Shih Tzu coat is a close second step to brushing. Combing the Shih Tzu coat should be considered an accompaniment to brushing, thus creating a melody of brush and comb, brush and comb, brush and comb the beautiful coat of your Shih Tzu.

Brushing and combing techniques:

The approach to your Shih Tzu consists of starting each step from the hindquarters. The theory behind this approach is if the Shih Tzu cannot see what you are doing, he will be less likely to object. Staring from the hindquarters proceed to groom the Shih Tzu systematically, part by part, step by step.

The actual technique of correct Shih Tzu coat brushing and combing is to first grasp the left rear leg of your Shih Tzu and while holding part of the hair in one hand brush the other part. To get to the undersides of your Shih Tzu's leg, lift the leg of your Shih Tzu up and while holding firmly with one hand, brush the undersides.

Lay down your brush and pick up your comb. The main function of the comb is to find and remove tangles, mats or knots left in the Shih Tzu coat after brushing. Run the comb through the leg coat you just brushed out. If you find a knot in the Shih Tzu's leg coat, hold the bottom part of the knot firmly with one hand and comb or tease out the knot women's jackets with the other.

When you are finished brushing and combing both hind legs of your Shih Tzu, do exactly the same with the two front legs of your Shih Tzu. When all four legs of your Shih Tzu are done, go back to the hindquarters of your Shih Tzu. This time, you will concentrate on the tail of your Shih Tzu. Proceed to do the entire body coat of your Shih Tzu, first left side, then right side, then underside, then the front or chest areas of your Shih Tzu. The most systematic way of brushing out the body coat of your Shih Tzu is from rear to front, layer by layer, lifting up with one hand a layer of Shih Tzu coat and brushing down to the skin with the brush hand.

The final step is the head, including the ears. The heavy furnishings on the head of your Shih Tzu are part of their beauty. No effort should be spared in thoroughly brushing and combing this area of your Shih Tzu. You now have the face of your Shih Tzu to do. Once you have mastered the technique of the brushing and combing melody, no area of your Shih Tzu should present a problem. Combing your Shih Tzu is always the final, finishing touch.
